Party favors are one of my most favorite things to make.  Party favors are given at each and every party that I throw.  I also believe that the party favors should be something that can be eaten or used.  These party favors are not only edible the cookie cutter can be used after the treat is eaten.  Long gone are the days of little figurine favors that collect dust on people’s shelves.

To make the favors you will need:

Cookie Cutters

Cellophane Bags

Ribbon

Favor or gift tags

For the Peppermint Bark you will need:

2 cups of bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate

4 tablespoons of vegetable shortening

12 ounces of white chocolate

crushed candy canes

Instructions:

1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and place the cookie cutters on the baking sheet.

2.  Melt the bittersweet or semi-sweet with 2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening until smooth.  Once the chocolate is melted with a spoon carefully pour the chocolate into the cookie cutters.  Place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate has set.

3.  Remove the pan from the fridge and melt the white chocolate with the remaining 2 tablespoons of shortening until smooth.  Once the white chocolate is melted pour it over the dark chocolate in the pan and sprinkle evenly with the crushed candy canes.  Place back in the refrigerator for at least an hour until the chocolate has set.

4.  Carefully lift the cookie cutters from the baking sheet and place in cellophane bags and tie with ribbon.
